In the company of fellow Jazz lovers and a few of my friends, the ‘soul’ of Laura Hubert at the microphone, her band, and Nathan Hiltz’ excellence on the guitar, rekindled my love of Jazz last night at The Rex, 194 Queen Street West, Toronto. The musicians, the music patrons seated in close proximity, the friendly clutter of chairs and tables, the busy servers, and the tucked-away band stand set in the mood of early spring Toronto, added to the warmth of the sound. Our eager appreciation brought out fresh emotion in a unique expression of musical creativity. I include two short videos of what it was like. Enjoy.
