The drawing is, as far as i am aware, my mother’s only remaining fine art. She drew it from a photo (d’apres Misty) when she was 20 years old. It never ceases to amaze me how fleeting our earthly initiatives may seem to us, but what is never fleeting is the investment we make in those closest to us. These continue to thrive in the lives we have touched; they are our true inheritances. Our legacy is their effect on the next generations that follow us. The picture of mom sitting over her many artistic creations is forever etched in my mind. Whether she prepared something to submit to a competition (for which she won many prizes), or a gift for someone in need, or for a friend, she always gave all she had of her gift. This thought will never leave me, though she has, for the moment.
